Ma kore – What’s up?

You will often hear Israelis on the phone follow up a hearty “Shalom” or “Hi” with “Ma kore”.

The phrase “Ma kore” (mah kor-EH), meaning literally “what’s up?” or “what’s going on?”, is a very informal term that follows “Hi.”

Ma kore (מַה קוֹרֵה) = What’s up?
